I had a account with CA that I paid off in 06/2007. It was agreed by the CA that the account will be deleted from CR. I also recd. a signed, dated letter from CA stating "As of June xx, 2007, this account was requested to be removed from your credit report."Checked my CR today(07/17) and the acct is still there. What should be my next step? Should I dispute the account with CRA?

Merged, Fraud, Duplicate re dated accounts.
Question regarding merged, fraud, duplicate, re dated accounts. Are furnishers of information allowed to list a duplicate account? I have one account that was purchased by another company and both companies have listed it on my bureaus. The buyer of the account dated the account when they purchased it and then gave it a new account number. What should I dispute this under? Do you know where in the FCRA this is listed as unlawful? According to one collection agent she stated that they can do this because there are no laws preventing it. Is that true?
-----------------
thats is true
but make sure they follow to the letter here
http://www.oskie.com/how-i-get-paid-collection-collections-account-removed-credit-report-completely.htm
------------------
Okay, that letter scares me it’s so good I would never have thought to ask those questions. It may not get it removed but it will give them a hard time I’m sure. I will use it immediately.
Thank you for all your help.

Credit Cards, Closed by grantor, Remove
I have question about my two Charge Accounts by Macys/Fdsb . My recent card report says that i have past due of 437+33 on two cards which were opened in dec 2002 and closed in dec 2004.
It also shows that credit has been closed by grantor in dec 2004.
Mine score is 675. I am paying bills on time from aug 2006. have 2 current cards.
What should i do to remove above two negative reports.
--------------------
Re-Open those cards and get them to get it straight after one year. Or try to get it straight by talking to the card creditors.
For sure they need to show paid.
With a 675 though it is not hurting your score much. They are already past 2 years old and you may not see any score change by paying.
I would pay though if I think I might owe it. Negotiate before you pay to have it removed.

Judgments, negotiate, romove from credit report, duplicates
I have not had any credit, positive or negative, since 2005. I have opened a secured credit card account with my credit union and feel confident I am on the right track to get more positive points on my credit report. Will a good history with this secured account increase my credit score? My score is now 640.
Also, I am “cleaning up” my credit report and am having to deal with charge-offs and a credit card judgment . Experian told me I had to either wait till those drop off, some as long as FIVE years or begin making payments. The payments I could afford on those debts would make it so I would be paying them off in NINE years.
I have heard that these debts can be negotiated down to erase the finance charges and late fees. Is this true? If so, does this apply to my account that actually is filed as a judgment with our county, where the county will negotiate?
Also, can debt that has NOT become a judgment be negotiated down? If so, how does one do this if it is a “collections” situation that is no longer with the original creditor?
ALSO, if the debt is negotiated down, are payments considered or is the only option a CASH PAID IN FULL.?
---------------------------
After 1 year, if they report to a bureau, your score will go up with no other negative information added in the meantime. probably 10-20 points. Keep the balance to less than 80%
Judgements you can forget about. But be sure to remember how bad that was and go on and get more new good credit. If the judgment is also listing on your report by the original creditor, then I would have that marked as paid and included in judement.
Use my dispute form
http://www.oskie.com/credit-dispute.htm
Negotiate debts and start for 35 cents on a dollar.
If they agree to that I am sure it is in full and I would find a way to do that.
-------------------------
The judgment is for only one credit problem, NOT where it is being reported twice. Can this judgment be satisfied in any other way that the FULL amount being on payment forever? Is there negotiation room with the county? Will making payments “shine” my score any?
My problem with the double negative report is that one company has reported a Transferred, closed/Account charged off, then the $$ written off. Then a NEW company is reporting Collection Amount of the same EXACT $$, to the dollar, thus extending the time on this debt till 2012! When I asked Experian about this, they said to just begin making payments or else this company can sell the debt to someone else, (the same $$ amount) and that will be a THIRD bruise on the report.
Would your dispute form be something I would use in this case to dispute a debt to a collections that is the SAME as the original to the REAL creditor?
Or am I sunk with TWO of the same black marks on the credit report?
It is awful that the EXACT amount, to the dollar, is being reported TWICE. Double jeopardy on my credit report.
-------------
Judgement is law. and that is that. sorry

all i know is use this on the double stuff or pay.

After 7 years will acounts that have not been paid fall off my credit report?
If I let my debts that show on my credit report go for the 7 year mark and they are still unpaid, will show negatively on my report being that they were never paid? Also, if I have a creditor calling me willing to settle on a one time payment and say I do settle, will this show negatively on my credit history? Thank you so much for your help!
---------------------
ALL records other than court findings, should fall off after seven years
Often times collections, credit cards, hospital bills, are sold again and again causing more than 7 years worth of pain so try to settle or pay if you can.
Settlements will show bad but is better than charge off or uncollectable.
Get and keep new good credit if you have enough income and responsibilty to pay.
-------------------------
Its Me again....sorry to bother you again, I just had one more question. Why is it that when you mess up on a bill it goes to your credit history. However, when you pay your bills on time it does not show on your credit report. I dont understand why the bad can play such an overloading role over the good! If you can, would you please explain this to me! If my husband and I wanted to get a credit card....the issuer would have no idea that we pay all of our bills on time every month....but they would know the mistakes that we made when we were 18!!! I just doesn't make sense!
---------------------
Utilities, phone, gas, water, heat, rent, insurance and the like are not loans, but bills, where one pays as they go. These are not reported unless one messes them up and they are assigned a charge off or an uncollectible.
Just normal rules of the jungle.
Get and keep new open reported credit.

What is the time for a lien to automatically fall off a property in virginia.

Trying to get 2 collections off my credit report. Old utilities.
I am trying to get 2 collection accounts off of my husbands credit report. They are both from old utility companies. These debts are 2 1/2 years old and under $300 total, but we are trying to get a mortgage and were told getting those removed would help. His score is around a 560 currently. We have wrote the letters offering to pay in full in exchange for deletion. We received letters back stating that they can not do that because it is against their policies. Where do we go from here? We have also tried the original creditor for 1 account (NYSEG)
We had success with 1 other collection agency using the same letters.
-------------------------
I have found utilities to be alomost impossible to get things off
Sounds like you hit the end of the raid there
Get new good credit for 1-2 years and your score will improve.
Credit report says I am deceased.
Recently I went to get a loan for a new car, and apparently they are unable to access my credit score, as my report states me as being DECEASED!! I have NO idea where to even begin to fix this!! So with this report saying that I am dead, I cannot even begin to think about getting a loan for anything at all until I get this matter settled. If you have any advice at all, it would be much appreciated. Thank you!
--------------------
Fill out my dispute form and say you are not dead
Might get your report free real quick to see for yourself
I assume you have no credit. I would start here.

Collection on unpaid utitlity bill now paid and my score dropped.
I viewed my credit report after a 2 year gap and was shocked to find a collection against an unpaid utility bill. Without the knowledge of negotiations I chased the collection company down and paid of the debt, only to find that my credit score dropped from 705 to 660, by all 3 agencies.
Is there any way I can get this negative info removed from my account after the fact that I paid the bill ?
The collection agency NCO financial wont answer my calls to discuss.
------------------------
660 is still a good score and it will increase quickly with new open and current lines of credit. Sometimes a credit score will take a short term hit if a collection gets a new "last activity date" put on the account when a person pays.
It still looks better than having a outstanding non paid collection.
If they will not answer calls then dispute the account
Use the dispute form and say reported incorrectly.

Tax lien on my report. If I pay when will it come off?
I had even gotten my credit score up 70 points since Jan 2007.
Making my payments on time etc.
Then out of the blue the Feds put a tax lien on my property which hit my credit reports under public records. It dropped my Equifax score 70 points. Experian and Transunion said over 600.
--I do owe the money and I am making arrangements to pay.
My question is, if I settle quickly this debt with the Feds, will I have a chance of getting this lien taken off my credit report?
--------------------
10 years from date of entry .
I would ask.
Leins are different than bad credit.
4 Hospital Bills in collections. Remove from my report.
I have 4 hospital bills that are currently in collections and are hurting my credit alot. I wanted to know what would be better to call them up and negotiate or just let them fall off of my report? dont know much about how long it takes so i wouldn't know what would be my best option. These are in collections as of right now, and i wanted to know how can i get them removed? they are all from the same collection agencymy credit scores are 600 662 619 first one is
$230 opened in 12/2002, last reported in 3/10/03
second one is $160 opened in 07/2001, last reported in 1/30/02
third one is $135 opened in 07/2001, last reported in 1/30/02
fourth one is $285 opened in 07/2001, last reported in 1/30/02
-----------------
If i had the money I would pay them all, but, negotiate before I paid. This is a matter of responsible credit honor.
If they cannot remove the collections completely I would probably still pay.
If you have three open lines of good credit you are closer to these falling offf than to hurting your scores
I word of note
Some creditors deny credit if there are any unpaid collections on a report.

Newly Divorced needs credit help.
I am a newly divorced mother and I am desperately trying to refinance my home. My credit scores are horrible: 540, 517 and 487. I simply cannot get the rate I need to refinance my home. Fortunately, my current lender placed me on hardship status and lowered my monthly payments, but I'm still having trouble. Yesterday, I came across your web page and I must say that for the first time in a year, I have hope. I thank you for offering free, upfront advice. I downloaded all of your forms, applied and received new credit lines and I feel positive about being on my way. Again thank you so much for this advice. You have gained a new fan and blog reader.

Negotiate and paid will it help my score and how much
I’ve negotiated and paid off 3 credit cards that went to collections in the span of a month in a half. Will that help my score?
-----------------
Sure will. Your credit report score will raise 10 - 80 points fast.
More if you re open these accounts and a year from now you call and get the old lates removed.

How do I delete a late payment from my report that is paid in full?
How would I be able to delete late payment from accounts that are already paid in full and close. Also I have a collection account from a medical bill which is already paid in full. it went to collection because I never received any bill for it since it was sent to an address I never reside at.
----------------
You cant to number 1
The most asked question in credit help to 2.
Thats life.
Negotiate and pay no matter what happened and get it as far behind you as quickly as you can.
If you already paid then you are better off because you have a paid in full account rahter than a maxed out account.

Scores different and Experian will not remove accounts Transunion will
I can't seem to get Experian to remove anything from my reportI have had good success with TU and Great success with Eqfx. Why is this happening ?
Scores
Transunion...625
Experian...533
Equifax..625
------------------
I hear this all the time
Experian is the biggest and most experienced of the three.
I would think, If you had evidence they would take stuff off with this form
Credit Dispute Form
I cannot explain this though.
Keep new good credit open. Do not get new bad marks.
Eventually the score will rise no matter what.
1 2 years and your score will be 700
Bad Debt Collections on my credit report have been paid in full.
I am having some difficulty submitting two disputes with Experian as I have already disputed these items w/ them in the past. When I attempt to submit another dispute the website prevents me from doing so saying the items have already been verified. How do I proceed w/ another dispute? One of the items was removed several years ago and has since reappeared. Thanks again.
--------------------
Use the free mail form on my site not the website. I will say that they frown on continued dispute of the same order. Send in documents to support your cause or call the company reporting it and negotiate.
---------------
The two bad debt collections on my credit report have already been paid in full and have 0 balances. What should I do about getting these removed?

Negotiate a payoff while in debt management program.
I currently have (4) four accounts enrolled in a Debt Management Program. I was wondering if it is possible to negotiate to payoff all my accounts at a discounted rate; for example, can I call a creditor and offer to pay 50 percent of the principal to payoff an account. Then, I could eliminate all my debt by paying half of my total debt.
--------------------
Sure can. Get started with debt negotiation. Here are some negotiation tips.
Improve credit score. Bankruptcy Discharged
I am trying to impove my credit score and noticed that some creditors have reported derogatory as of sept 2005 although they were included in a bankruptcy that was dischared in march of 2001. Is this something I should dispute?
---------------------
They should just reflect included in bk

charge offs, dont recognize, old charge offs
Hi Bo…I have several accounts on my credit report that are charged off. However, some have no open date nor original debtor and I have no idea when or even if I opened them. A couple show to be closed but collection companies picked them up and are wanting money after the fact. Who do I pay to correct this?
------------------
Dispute anything old or unknown as not yours.
Use this free credit dispute form.
Send it certified mail.
read directions
addresses on form
Credit Card, Collection, Court, Judgement, Attorney fees
What options do I have once a collection has gone to court? The attorney representing the credit card company did not provide me with any information to verify that the debt is mine or how it was calculated. They say I've defaulted and am ordered to pay. Can I use a revised version of the debt validation letter to make them put up or shut up? What about attorney's fees? Can they add them to my judgement?
-------------------
They would have to prove validation in court
So use it
They can add all fees
Cosignor, Bankruptcy, Car loan
I had a joint Mazda car loan with a guy in 1998. He has filed bankruptcy on the car and is out of the bankruptcy. Is there a way for me to have this removed based on his bankruptcy if not what should I do in this case? Keep in mind he is not cooperating with me to help.
--------------------
If you cosigned it will show on your account
if it is from 98 it should be about off and you have new good credit anyway.

He co-signed for me. Is there a route you would suggest I take to handle this.

Paid Collection
Hey Bo,
Well I came across your info a bit too late! I made a couple of payments over the phone to a couple of collection agencies and would like to know is there anyway that I will be able to get my credit report updated? On a side note one of the reps that I spoke with mentioned that they would be unable to remove the collections on my credit report due to the Fair Credit Reporting Act. She said all they could do was show a zero balance paid in full. What can I do, if anything?
---------------------
Probably nothing
But what you have done is GREAT and will help your score.
You now have a 0 balance on a maxed out line of credit.
negotiate, after bankruptcy, Chapter 7, duplicates, duplicate
Hello my name is Elena. First let me say AWESOME SITE! I have yet to come across a site with so much information and real life help...and im on the web alot! I build website and come across many websites, but anyway my reason for emailing is obviously credit related. We have been in a lease-to-purchase program for the last 8 months and we are supposed to be ready to buy the house come the 1 year mark in December of this year, however the process requirements have recently changed which require us to have the 3 open lines of credit [where as when we first signed up we just needed one] and a score of at least 620 [where as when we first signed up we only needed a 580]. Now my score has been climbing at a pretty nice pace since Jan with the following FICO scores: 548, 568, 568, 574, 588, 604, 607, until this month now its 594 [im guessing it has something to do with applying for new credit accounts as instructed to do so by the program people] but my questions are :
- how do i negotiate and "TALK BUSINESS" with creditors/collectors to remove my account from my report prior to paying? Im at a loss for the proper script i should reference, questions I should ask, the method of approach when asking etc.
- would email or fax documentation work as good as snail mail via the usps? and what should i request the documentation from the debt collector read?
- my credit report has duplicate accounts listed for experian in particular and it showing in the overall totals of total accounts and detogatory accounts and balances owed...is this hurting me too? and is so what can i do about the duplicates? would i treat them as a normal dispute?
- my public records are also showing for experian as duplicates showing I have 6 when there should only be a chapter 7 filed and discharged back in 2002, is there anything that can be done about this?
- i had a judgment that was filed in 2000 that was included in my chapter 7, should it still be showing in my report? and again multiple times as duplicates in a row?
- how would i [if i even can] show i have been self employed since 2001 on my report instead of no employer reported? We have also had to recently acquire a car loan this past week and it doesnt even show yet on the credit report so Lord only knows what that is going to do to my account but we are obviously looking to make some drastic [which i know is not ideal in the credit repair world] but some drastic actions to meet the new requirements to purchase this house by the 1 year mark for being in this program. I have recently been approved for a capital one card which after reading your article on that I will be sure to keep it at a zero balance and paying it off immediately after use if it is used at all. The problem started with our credit a few years back my husband was in and out of work and it really hit us hard but now for the last 1.5 yrs we have started another business to put us both as the self employed status and it has been going wonderfully and we are making more money now then the last 5 years of our marriage which allows us to get caught up and not fall behind again, anyhow now that i am rambling THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR TIME! It is much appreciated.
---------------------------
Negotiate
Dispute the duplicates and hope. Use the form above to get one removed
http://www.oskie.com/after-bankruptcy-credit-report-repair-credit-card.htm
Bankruptcy
Judgemtents should only show up once. Dispute duplicates.
-
You can't. Employer shows up when you apply for credit and state you have and employer. What you would do is say I work for xyz compnay. I own it. And a potentail lender would then show xyz as being your employer when you applied for credit with them and it will reflect on your report.
--------------------
Does the auto lender report to bureas? Some do not. Takes 1 year to get a rated credit line anyway.

Credit Card account sold to collections company and I paid them negotiated amount
I have a few questions...
1) I have an old credit card account on my credit report. It was sold to a collection company and I paid them a negotiated amount to pay them in full. In return they deleted the collection account from my credit report. Only Transunion still shows the collection account... and all three show the original account.
The date opened is 8/01 for the original account... Does that mean that I can start a dispute to get it removed from my credit report?
Also, on Transunion, can I report this as a duplicate account?
2) I have a civil lien on my credit report.... will it fall off in 7 years or will it just stay on until I pay? Also, I have a collection agency trying to collect on this lien showing up on my credit report... can I dispute as a duplicate account on the credit reports where it shows the original and the collection account. And finally.... the collection account pulls my credit report twice a year... can I report that as harassment. They note that they can not locate me. But I have sent and received letters from them regarding the account.... I have sent them a cease collections efforts letter... and this is what they are doing!
Thanks for your time and help.
I am currently about to relocate and am interested in getting a first time home loan and want to clear all these things up prior to getting out there.... The positive thing is that I have 2 active loans with my credit union which I have never been late on... which are both 2 years old... will that help?
--------------------------
Date closed or date of last activity is all that matters.
I would dispute it as not mine.
Lien will come off if and when you pay in full.
-------------------
It is against the fair credit reporting act to pull your credit without signed consent.
I would use this letter to validate the premise behind pulling your credit and contact the local better business bureau about these actions. They should remove the account totally because they never had your signed consent to pull your credit. Totally illegal. You could own them.
Collections Agency Billing Insurance, paid collection
Can a collection agency report an account before billing medical insurance? I have dual insurance with 100% coverage and collection agencies have reported me with unpaid accounts before billing secondary insurance. When insurance pays the bill in full they upgrade the report to a paid collection. Most will delete the record but it is a hassle. Is it true that if you have insurance and the provider either does not bill or bills incorrectly that you do not have to pay?
----------------------
I would not think so.
I always have to pay.
Collections is a natural way for medical providers to collect.
Hospitals DO have to treat anyone who seeks treatment.
We all say medical is free to the indigent. This is not wholly true . Medical providers have the legal right to ruin credit on any and all person that do not pay fast. Expect to get collections from any and all medical providers fast. One of the biggest holes in hospital balance sheets is getting the bill to someone before they move and claim I never received a bill.
That is the largest line out there. So I have to prove my spot.
-------------------
If the account is found to "should have been paid by insurer" and the medical provider did not file insurance properly one would think the medical provider would have the account removed from your report.
NOTHING in credit reporting or collections is written in stone. One would think that all the creditors and bureaus and consumers could work this all out. But multiply, millions of creditors by millions of consumers, by 3 bureaus and it is a wonder anything works.
By and large most credit reports closely reflect a consumers past and current credit.
But strange things happen to real people in the hundreds of millions of different credit spots each day.
So check, recheck, and know your rights. Sounds like you are doing just that.
