I cosigned a loan and now my credit report and credit scores show an attachment paragraph/statement.
I am a 57 year old female who was in better than good credit shape until 2001 when I co-signed a loan for $5,000 to help my oldest daughter establish good credit. I did the same thing for her with her cell phone. She made the payments for at least a year, I moved 200 miles away thinking everything was OK, did not think to advise the bank and cell company's of my change of address, and a year later the phone began to ring. She had been given an additional $5,000 in credit and max'd out the card. She hadn't made a payment in over a year. When she could no longer pay her cell phone bill, she simply turned off the phone and made the bills disappear, avoided the collectors and moved from time to time to keep herself unavailable. You don't want to know the BS she sold me~

When I moved I applied for a mortgage loan. I was overqualified to purchase the simple home in West Eugene. I was denied the loan and given my credit report. During the next 18 months, I paid off all the credit debts, settling the $10,000 with the collector. They didn't care about how I got in the mess, they could not help me in any way.

I was so embarrassed and humiliated when the loan apps were refused. My daughters name did NOT appear on any of the paperwork and I was responsible. I don't want that to happen again. I need to get those awful statements removed from the reports. Can you help me with that? I did buy that home with the help of a friend. Both our names appear on the title but it was his good credit scores and my finances that got us in. In May, I want to apply for a refinance and take over the existing mortgage. If I can clean up the nasty 'attachments' to my credit report it would really help.

I look forward to your reply,

What you do is put the same kind of an attacthment on the account and state your side of the situation.
Make it 100 words or less. 50 is the best number.
Establish new good credit. You might try to re open that same account which is so problematic. It would show that you mean good but got caught in a bad spot. Use the free dispute form on my webite for personal info and write the letter, get in notorized, send it certified mail.
