In May 2005, the SC Dept of Revenue lovingly informed me of a tax lien in the amount of $9849. After a panic attack, I phoned my accountant who assured me that it was an error. It was an error and it was made by SC. On top of that, my accountant actually found that I was due a refund of $1200, which I DID recieve. However, after several certified letters sent by me and my accountant, to have the false lien removed from my credit report, it is still there. I am certain that this is affecting my credit score. I don't want to wait 5 more years for this to be removed. Any recommendations on how I might "expedite" this MAJOR error? Is this something I might consider discussing with a tax attorney?
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!
