My husband and I are trying to raise his credit score. We are trying to consolidate our debt into a equity loan. We need a score of 660 to qualify. The scores right now are 679, 658 and 639. One 30 day late (April 07) that the creditor has agreed to correct (we have a letter of deletion) and the last negative is the amount we owe on cc's (ratios) that we are trying to refinace.
My questions are: boyfriend
#1 if the creditor has reported it to Transunion how can I get Transunion to show it. The creditor told me it is slow on their part but they checked twice and they sent the info on their part. Also in your estimate how many points would that add back if if got corrected?
#2 Would it help to reopen old accounts that we requested to be closed to show more credit avaliable so the ratio would come down. Also if we did this would it show as an inquiry on our credit?

a 30 day late that close to today will actually help alot. i am gonna guess 30 points but i don't know.
you can dispute the account yourself and say account not reported correctly, never late.
if you asked to have accounts reopend they would check your credit and put an inquiry on your credit report.
the ratio your talking about is not a ratio that matters avaiable credit ratio
you need to be concered with credit limit balance ratios to raise scores and debt to income ratios to show you have the ability to pay.
