1. The end of 2002 beginning of 2003, I self-filed a Chapter 13 in an attempt to save our home. The bank foreclosed; we lost our home and I withdrew the Chapter 13. The Bankruptcy shows as Dismissed. Is there anything I can do to have this completely removed?
2. We lost our home through fore closure, but there is still a debt classified as "Mortgage" for $72,000... this was a Second Mortgage. Why is this still on our file as a debt owed? Our home was taken but they still want the Second paid?
3. The Date of Last Activity continues to be updated on this Second Mortgage. Which tells me no matter what I do, this will never be removed.
4. It seems whenever I do an inquiry to Equifax to correct errors, I start getting calls again on old debt... does the inquiry to Equifax cause the Date of Last Activity to be updated?

copy the dismissal papers and mail them as a dispute use this form
yes they still want the money. I would assume though some would be paid during the foreclosure and subseqent sale?
i would have to see a paper tail to help with this. but sure and loan has to be paid off period.
#3 not sure what to coment on this one.
#4 does not make sense. there is no correlation. inquiries only happen when you apply for a loan
not when you check your credit online

I faced the exact same situation. In the end the second mortgage was sent to debt collection. The debt collection can take you to court or settle out of court. They can even get paycheck deductions.
I owed 47k and ended up with a settlement of 22k.
I too filed for Bankruptcy too avoid reposession however i cancelled it when i did a short-sell. But still see it being shown as dismissed.

whether or not you completed your bankruptcy case doesn't matter when it comes to your credit report. you still filed, you were still given a case number and therefore you were still in bankruptcy and it will continue to show on your credit report for 7 - 10 years. you can not "cancel" a bankruptcy case. it's not a membership. you should ALWAYS consult an attorney. most may take some cash up front but the rest is paid through your plan.
