accounts that have been closed over 10 years are still on there

Hi -
I received my credit report and accounts that have been closed for over 10 years are still on there. They are in good standing but I thought they would not show up anymore. Is that true? How long after the account is closed does it stay on the credit report?

10 years on matters of law
some states have different laws
but most work like stated above
