My debt is 13 years old and they are just now becoming agressive with the collection tactics

Quoting Live Human
Why are delinquent Dept of Education Loans not subject to the statute of limitations. My debt is 13 years old and they are just now becoming agressive with the collection tactics. I have disputed the debt as the original loan was used for school which my son never got to complete as after dropping out temporarily due to personal hardship reasons. when he tried to return to school , the school in our area had closed. Do I still owe the Dept of Eduction?
----------------
yes the school and the loan are 2 totally seprate actions
Dept of edu laons are govt loans.
i would set up a payment procedure
