How can collection agencies on a yearly basis change the date of last activity.

How is it that the collection agencies can, on a yearly basis, change the date of last activity? Is this illegal? The debt is well over 15 years old and yet is it being reported as active.

How can I get them to stop and remove this from my credit report?

They sell them to each other.

Be sure to try this Debt Validation letter.

Pay them and be done if you can.

Try the validation letter and follow up. Usually the collection can not legally confirm they own the debt. Expescially after 7 years go by. Then go to the local BBB and ask for relief. See what they can do.
