Most Credit savy people realize debt to high credit limits hurt score more than help.
If you have a 4 lines of credit worth 5000 high credit each and only owe 4500 on 1 card then close all the other cards a person goes from 4500-20000 to 4500-5000. BAD!!!
Some people argue both sides
one allows you to help yourself if you find money troubles some time
two consolidates your credit and makes you a better risk and possible a little
bit better score.
if your are 720 range so what.
if your are 639 then i can argue the point of closing stuff.
